Today, most customers expect constant, seamless wireless connectivity, regardless of their location. In only a few short years, Wi-Fi has become essential to many customers. They often react with dismay and consternation if their devices to work everywhere: at their workplace; on their commute; and in their home, even as they might be migrating from an enterprise Wi-Fi system at work to a cellular system on the road to a consumer class Wi-Fi solution at home. They even expect their generic consumer products, such as refrigerators or dryers, to be part of a reliable Wi-Fi universe. Broadband providers must be ready to meet these needs today and tomorrow.
Cornel will review today’s Wi-Fi usage rates among consumers in the home and use those trends to extrapolate to the rates of future of Wi-Fi services. He will also present a high level view alternative home networking architectures, with attention to how they can meet the needs of new services and new devices. He will also provide a closer look is given to the capabilities of 60 GHz Wi-Fi® and how it may become the centerpiece of a new wireless home strategy.
